Osteopathy is a physical therapy, not unlike massage therapy, physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment. If you went to see any of the professions mentioned above you might get similar treatment from any of them. The difference with osteopathy is we have a more global approach and look at the whole person as a fluid moving being, we don’t just look at the bit which hurts.

For example if you came to see me with tennis elbow I would treat the elbow, but I would also want to look at why your elbow is hurting. Simply treating the elbow might help for a few months, but the chances are the problem would come back. It could well be your elbow hurts because your upper back isn’t mobile enough and treating your upper back as well as your elbow would help keep the problem away.
